POLYGONAL PES are thermoplastic, saturated polyester resins with high molecular weight. The amorphous types (in contrast to the crystalline versions) are soluble in organic solvents at elevated temperatures.
POLYGONAL PES exhibit particularly good mechanical properties and excellent adhesion to plastic films and mouldings and metals (including aluminium and copper). In combination with blocked isocyanates, melamines, triazine resins, epoxy resins or other curing agents, increased heat resistance (sterilisation resistance), chemical resistance and hardness can be achieved.
POLYGONAL PES are used for a wide range of industrial inks, coatings and adhesives and are particularly suitable for stamping and thermoforming coatings for e.g. can/coil coatings, white goods, heat-sealing (heat-sealing lacquers), hotmelts (hot-melt adhesives), laminating adhesives, flexible packaging, flexible printed circuit boards, and many more.
POLYGONAL PES resins are suitable for and as primers or adhesion promoters for solvent-based (and UV-based) coatings on untreated PET and many other plastic or metal substrates (aluminium, copper, PVC, PC, …). Some types comply with FDA regulation 175.300 for food contact.
